Two functional properties of one of the two hamster antibodies have been examined, the H4 subclone of the 3D12 clone. In experiments the H4 antibody was used to identify mouse properdin present in histological sections, to block mouse properdin function in vitro, and to ameliorate complement alternative pathway dependent pathogenesis in multiple mouse disease models.
