CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing was used to modify the coding region of the NMI mouse gene. The genetic modification resulted in the deletion of the full length production of the protein. This modification was made the C57BL/6J genetic background. NMI is a host protein involved in innate immune signaling and could be the target of small molecules to enhance or suppress innate immune responses.
